Hotels Near the Harry Potter Studios Tour for Every Budget
For Potter fans, a trip to the Harry Potter Studio Tour is a no brainer HELL YES, but where to stay the night before and after is a little more complicated.
After all, the studio tour is not located in London proper and can be a bit of a hike to get there if you’re staying in the city center. While it’s doable (I’ve done it that way twice), it can make an already long day even longer.
So if you would like to save time and hassle on your day visiting Leavesden, you’ll want to find accommodations nearby. But don’t worry. No need to spend hours on hotel booking websites searching for hotels near Harry Potter studios tour, because I’ve done all the tedious research for you.
To create this list, I’ve spent hours researching online, reading through hotel amenities, calculating distances, and scouring reviews. (After all, research is my sexy super power.)
In this one-stop post, I’ll let you know the best hotels near the Harry Potter Studios Tour for every budget and need — whether you’re traveling as a pair or as a group, and whether you’re driving or relying on public transportation.
Don’t forget to pin this post so you can come back to it easily as you make your plans.

As always, this post may contain affiliate links, which means at no additional cost to you, shopping from them may generate small commissions to support the operations of this blog.
Whenever possible, I recommend buying books at local bookshops or through Bookshop.org, because shopping there puts the profits right into the hands of indie bookstores all over the country.
Disclaimers: Note that hotel prices change throughout the year, increasing in busier times like summer and during holidays. While I try to give a good range here, expect prices to vary somewhat depending on when you’re going. Also, I haven’t personally stayed in any of these, so all information is based on scouring hotel websites and firsthand user reviews.

For the price-conscious traveler (no shame in it!), staying in Watford can be a much more affordable alternative to staying in central London, with the benefit of finding lots of reasonably priced hotels near the Harry Potter studios. That means you might spend more time commuting into London to sightsee, but your day at the studio tour won’t be unnecessarily elongated by a long train ride to and from.
These are some of the best budget hotels that are all close to the Warner Brothers Studio Tour.
Leonardo Hotel London Watford

Address: 31-35 Clarendon Road, Watford, England, WD17 1JA
Expedia rating: 8.8/10 (1,000+ reviews)
Google rating: 4.5 / 5 (2,000+ reviews)
The Leonardo Hotel London Watford is a well-loved budget hotel choice in downtown Watford. The rooms are surprisingly spacious (London hotel rooms are often glorified closets), and reviewers agree that it is clean, if simple.
The best things this hotel has going for it are the location in central Watford — walking distance to restaurants and entertainment as well as the coach pick-up for the Harry Potter studio tour — and the price, sometimes as low as $64 a night for a double room.
Plus, the rooms have air conditioning, which makes a big difference if you’re visiting during the summer months. The most common complaint among recent visitors is the noise level, noting that the rooms aren’t as soundproof as one might like.
There’s no onsite parking, but there’s offsite parking nearby for £4.

Best Western White House Hotel

Address: 27-31 Upton Road, Watford, England, WD18 0JF
Expedia rating: 8.0/10 (1,000+ reviews)
Google rating: 3.9 / 5 (750 reviews)
The Best Western White House Hotel is another popular choice for those on a budget wishing to stay near the studio tour. It’s also located in Watford, though less centrally than the Leonardo.
This 3-star hotel has free parking — a nice bonus for those planning to drive to the Studios, though the car park is small, and it’s first come, first served. One drawback is rooms have fans only, no air conditioner — something worth noting for stays during the summer months. Some might find the cost savings worth the warmth, though, with prices as low as $52 a night for a double room.
Recent visitors regularly note that the hotel feels outdated, but clean, and with everything one needs. Plus, the staff are incredibly friendly.

Best Mid-Level Hotels ($100-200)
Personally, this is my favorite tier of hotel to book. I don’t personally need a luxurious rental, as most of my time will be spent sightseeing. Still, I’d like a comfortable bed to come back to and a pleasant atmosphere. Here are some of my top picks after hours of research.
Note that in the off-season of travel, many of these hotels’ rates fall into the budget category (<$100 per night), which is among the best perks of traveling during times when others aren’t. Having been through more than one London winter myself, I can tell you it’s really not that bad.
The Bedford Arms

Address: Chenies House, Chenies, Rickmansworth WD3 6EQ
Expedia rating: 9.2 /10 (200+ reviews)
Google rating: 4.4 / 5 (600+ reviews)
The Bedford Arms is one of the best hotels near the Harry Potter studio tour, if you have a car or are willing to Uber there. It’s a 3.5 star establishment that has all the charm of a village inn and country pub. The rooms here are all unique and have lots of local character, and guests love the on-site pub and restaurant.
Recent visitors also gush over the comfortable beds, air conditioning, and fantastic breakfast. Plus, you can get free parking. It’s a little out of the main way (which is sort of the appeal), so it’s best suited to those planning to drive or taxi to the Harry Potter studio tour.

Holiday Inn London — Watford Junction

Address: 65-67 Clarendon Rd, Watford WD17 1DS
Expedia rating: 9.0 /10 (600+ reviews)
Google rating: 4.3 / 5 (1,000 + reviews)
Holiday Inn London is a good choice for those looking for a mid-price hotel near the Harry Potter studios tour. It’s a stone’s throw from Watford Junction Train station, where you can catch the free coach to the studios. That also puts you only 20-25 minutes from being in central London for further exploring (like the Harry Potter walking tour I reviewed earlier this year).
Recent visitors agree that this hotel is a bit dated, but clean and with everything you need. Rooms also have air conditioner, and many people note that the breakfast buffet is of good quality. All in all, this is a good budget option that falls into the mid-price range during peak seasons and often falls below $100 per night in off peak travel times.
The hotel has parking available for £8 a night at the time of writing.

Holiday Inn Express Watford Junction

Address: 19 Bridle Path, Watford WD17 1UE
Google rating: 4.1 / 5 (1,000 + reviews)
Holiday Inn Express Watford Junction is another mid-range option within easy walking distance of Watford Junction train station (and the free coach to the studio tour). It has the advantage of an included breakfast (you have to pay extra at the Holiday Inn), which recent visitors agree is good quality.
This hotel option gets consistently positive reviews for good service, cleanliness, and amenities, though some people note being kept awake by train noise. Rooms do have air conditioner, but many visitors recently have struggled getting it to work properly to cool down their room, something to consider if you are heat sensitive and visiting during the summer months.
Parking is available, but spots are very limited, and you’ll pay around £7 per night. But you can get by without a car here, as the trains from Watford Junction can get you into central London in just 20 minutes.

Address: 48A Perivale Gardens, Watford
Booking.com rating: 9.0 /10 (~150 reviews)

9 3/4 Themed Rental
Address: Given upon booking
Booking.com rating: none yet (so book with that known risk)

Of all the Harry Potter themed rentals near the studio tour, this one looks to be the most committed to the theme, featuring the most extensive and elaborate decorations. Extra touches here include themed games, the Harry Potter books for your reading, photo props, and even a Wizard’s chess game.

Travel Resources At-A-Glance
All of the following are links to sites and services I actually use to book and plan my travel or to purchase books or travel gear.
For flights: Skyscanner is my number one go-to resource for booking flights. I love using the “explore” function to find the cheapest places I can fly during a given time or using the fare calendar to identify the cheapest days to fly.
For hotels and lodgings: For hotels, hotels.com, and for vacation rentals, VRBO.com. I’ve had much better experiences with private rentals through this website than through other popular private vacation rental websites.
For car rentals: Kayak allows comparisons across a wide range of booking agencies and lists reviews of companies as well. I’ve found this to be the most user-friendly and efficient way to compare car rental prices.
For tours & excursions: Viator and Get Your Guide are my top choices for booking excursions and tour experiences in a new destination.
For travel gear: Amazon.com and REI for more outdoorsy items. Check out my travel gear recs here.
For booking trains & buses: I find the Omio app and website to be the most easily navigable for comparing options for public transportation, especially in Europe,
Best travel credit card: My favorite travel rewards credit card for European travel has been the Chase Sapphire Rewards card. Visa is accepted just about everywhere in Europe, and there are no foreign transaction fees on the card. Some of the travel benefits I love on the Chase Sapphire include free TSA pre-check or Global Entry (worth it every time), an annual $200 travel credit, an annual $200 hotel benefit, built-in rental car, and trip insurance, and points are worth 50% more when used to book travel. I travel around Europe a LOT, and I end up with many free flights and hotel stays from using my points on my Chase Sapphire.
For books: Bookshop.org often has prices as good as Amazon or sometimes better, but profits go to indie bookstores all over the country. Whenever possible, consider buying your books from this online indie bookshop resource.
Hopefully that gives you all the information you need to make your choice easy when it comes to finding hotels near the Harry Potter studios tour. There are ample options from which to choose, but of course, you’ll always have the most selection the earlier you book!
